The Fraser: Living River

The Fraser, Living River is an ongoing personal project that explores the historical and ecological significance of British Columbia’s longest river, The Fraser River. I aim to document the river and its watershed from its headwaters at the Continental Divide to its terminus at the Pacific Ocean examining this ecologically diverse river whose basin takes in an astounding 11 of BC’s 14 biogeoclimatic zones.

Central to the project is the Fraser as a working river. My imagery works to highlight the river’s history and continued importance to First Nations communities and includes the development of industries such as logging, shipping, fishing, and tourism.  As part of this ongoing project, I exhibited some of the work in conjunction with the Capture Photography Festival at the Richmond Art Gallery which you can read about here.
